Mrs. M. Gonzales

"I call my students "my kids" because in our year together, they aren't just kids on my class list. They become part of my heart."

Welcome family, friends, and students! My name is Mrs. Gonzales and I have been a part of the KSA family for seven years. I am looking forward to having a very productive and fun filled 2018-2019 school year.

The beginning of school is such a wonderful and exciting time in a child's life. A positive Kindergarten experience will be crucial to the development of life-long learners. All the staff here at the KSA follow our mission statement, "play learn grow
To motivate, engage, and inspire students to become academic achievers and life long learners in a safe and nurturing environment". It is our job to provide your child with a sturdy foundation of academic (and social) skills and concepts to prepare and accompany them throughout their educational years ahead.

Throughout the year, I will be updating the class webpage as often as necessary to keep everyone up to date on any current events and other pertinent information. Parent involvement and communication is very important to me as your child's teacher. I may be reached via e-mail at, via phone at 908-298-2040 ext 2205, or simply by putting a note in your son/daughter's homework folder. I will also be including some photos along with useful links that you can try at home with your child. Be sure to check back occasionally and check our monthly tabs for current events and class info! Welcome and thanks for
stopping by!

 Class Schedule

Monday- Art and Gym
Tuesday- iPads and Spanish
Wednesday- Guidance or Library and Gym
Thursday- Art
Friday- Music and iPads
**Be sure to send your child to school wearing sneakers on Gym days!

The children will be eating snack daily. Snack is approximately 15 minutes. Please send your child to school with a light and nutritious snack. Avoid sending anything high in sugar. Some suggestions for snack include: crackers, pretzels, 100% juice, small piece of fruit, granola bar, apple sauce, and etc.

Birthday Celebrations We love to acknowledge students on their birthday and we will do so in class by wishing them a great big “Happy Birthday” and good wishes.  They will receive a birthday pencil and a special sticker. In addition, they will get a special shoutout by our principal during morning announcements on their special day! However, as per school policy, we will not celebrate birthdays in the classroom throughout the month.  Instead, we will celebrate monthly birthdays on the last day of the month in conjunction with the Student Achievement Program.  On that day, those students who had a birthday during that month will be allowed to bring in treats to share with the whole class.  Therefore, if at that time you would like to send in treats to help celebrate your child’s birthday, please feel free to do so. Healthy snacks are preferred. If you would like some suggestions on healthy alternatives, please let me know and I will be happy to offer suggestions. Again, please remember:  DO NOT SEND IN HEALTHY TREATS ON THE DAY OF YOUR CHILD’S BIRTHDAY – We will celebrate ONLY on the last Friday of each month.

Volunteering There will be various volunteering opportunities at the KSA during the school year. Some of these opportunities include special events such as Harvest Day, book fairs, literacy nights, and field trips. If you are interested in coming to the classroom as a guest reader, please let me know. In order to have parent volunteers, you must have prior approval. This is done to ensure your child’s safety while in the building with us. You must check in with the office before coming to the classroom to get a visitor's pass. Siblings and younger children are not able to come along to the classroom while you are helping due to safety issues. ***Check back for updates on the monthly tabs below!
