Welcome Back to the KSA School Community;

As we quickly approach the 100th day of school,  I am excited about the planned happenings for the 2nd half of the school year. Our upcoming plans include a host of instructional activities that will heighten the student learning experience at the KSA. The numerous Literacy Events planned will continue to focus on strengthening the academic foundation of our students which measurable progress to date.

Keeping the KSA families involved in our school community requires that we open our academic doors for a strong home and school connection. As such I hope you joined us at the December Musical Show featuring the KSA Khorus, KSA Rockettes,  and the Drama Klub, where the student performances highlighted our KSA stars in the making under the direction of Ms. Marshall, Ms. Tinsley and Mrs. Whittaker. Or perhaps you experienced our student performances at the January Winter Concert which marveled the entire school community. This was an opportunity for each class to sing a winter selection while being accompanied by our music teacher, Ms. Seuffert on the guitar.

The show doesn’t stop there, beginning in February 2017, we will begin our new Boys Mentoring program called the Joeys Group. Our school mascot is the KSA KoKo the Kangaroo and a Joey is a baby kangaroo, so what better way than nurturing the development of our young boys in the 8 character traits through a mentoring experience.

The month of February also brings families and friends to journey with us for our Annual Black History Month (BHM) recognition events at the KSA. Our plans include several events which will held throughout the month of February. Events and activities, such as A Movie and Muffins, the BHM Show, and Did you know ?? Scavenger Hunt of Black History Facts just to name a few.

Finally, as part of the Healthy School Alliance, the KSA Marathon Team was formed and continues to find ways to meet their 26 mile journey. So far they are at a milestone of 13 miles, LET’S KEEP RUNNING TEAM.

With only 5 remaining months of school, we hope that you join us for one or more opportunities to partner in learning here at the KSA.

Educationally yours,
Dr. Nathan L. Fisher, Principal
